- Assuming that the HD floppy you tried to install was not one of the ones
- specially built for Amigas (by your description of the problem), the
- problem rests with the HD floppy drive. Clone drives are not wired to
- pass the disk change signal to the computer. If you want to continue to
- use it you will have to enter the command
-
- diskchange df0:
-
- from a shell everytime that you insert or remove a disk in order for the
- system to know that there has been a disk inserted or removed.
-
- I'm also pretty sure that an unmodified drive will not work too well as a
- HD drive, since it will be passing data to the Amiga at a rate above that
- which the Paula chip can handle. It will work fine (except for the disk
- change stuff) as a double-density drive though, just be sure that any
- disks being inserted in it for double-density use are *not* actually
- high-density disks, or have the HD hole covered with tape, since the HD
- drive will detect what type of disk they are and try to treat it as such
- resulting in errors when you try and read data from the disk.
