  21. Assuming that the HD floppy you tried to install was not one of the ones 
  22. specially built for Amigas (by your description of the problem), the 
  23. problem rests with the HD floppy drive.  Clone drives are not wired to 
  24. pass the disk change signal to the computer.  If you want to continue to 
  25. use it you will have to enter the command
  26.  
  27. diskchange df0:

  29. from a shell everytime that you insert or remove a disk in order for the
  30. system to know that there has been a disk inserted or removed.

  32. I'm also pretty sure that an unmodified drive will not work too well as a
  33. HD drive, since it will be passing data to the Amiga at a rate above that
  34. which the Paula chip can handle.  It will work fine (except for the disk
  35. change stuff) as a double-density drive though, just be sure that any
  36. disks being inserted in it for double-density use are *not* actually
  37. high-density disks, or have the HD hole covered with tape, since the HD
  38. drive will detect what type of disk they are and try to treat it as such
  39. resulting in errors when you try and read data from the disk.
